Gene
It was easy to come up with a nickname for this beautiful female black bear...meet Gene. If you don't get the reference that means I'm showing my age!

The Culprit
I had an amazing four days and have now seen a total of 11 bears at this location. Even with all the photos I have, I can't wait to go back...spending time with them is such a privilege.
This is my favorite bear who we call Slim Jim. He seems so curious about us and what we're doing and the only problem is maintaining a comfortable distance that is safe for us and for him. He followed us around and liked to be within 5 feet of me at times. Not typical behavior for a wild (non-dump) bear. He's also the one I think was responsible for my camera mishap but I've forgiven him already.
