I've been photographing the Burrowing Owls in Florida every year since 2009. That translates to a crazy amount of photos! However I never get tired of watching their antics and this year I think I took some of my favorites so far.

It isn't often that one of my landscapes is included in the top ten but I couldn't leave this one out! Photo opportunities aside, I was with my favorite people who share my passion for nature and it was a trip full of memorable moments.

Now that Christmas is over it's time for my "Best Of 2017" - A collection of my 10 personal favorite photos & moments experienced in the last year.
Watching these two fox interacting was an early highlight to the year. It's been such a privilege to spend time with them over the course of many years. They may be famous now but they were virtually unknown when I met them and still behaved like wild animals.

Granular Glass
Granular glass frog (Cochranella granulosa) in Costa Rica. This is the owner of the eggs I posted a while ago hanging on a leaf over a stream. I've never had a chance to find and photograph this species before so this was a thrill. Probably one of the prettiest Glass Frogs I've ever seen. Two new species for me this year....the Ghost and the Granular!

Wild Scarlet x Great Green Macaw in Costa Rica. (Naturally occurring). These species are wild and areas they occupy overlap which occasionally means Scarlet and Greens will breed together and create this beautiful hybrid.

The Ghost
What a great trip!! Three weeks still wasn't long enough, so next year will be a month. My visits there will never be long enough...really have to find property and live there for some of the year! This years trip was a nice mixture of photography and lots of time with our friends. It's so hard only seeing some of our favorite people for a few weeks every year 
We had lots of great sightings and the biggest deal for me was finally finding this Ghost Glass Frog. I've been searching since 2012!!
