Fear The Unknown
Wild Black Bear Sow in a tree in Ontario. This was a strange day....she was acting so defensive and huffy. It almost seemed like she was scared of something. Thankfully the next day she was back to her normal self :-D

Tayra
My first time seeing one of these!!! This is a Tayra (Eira barbara) an omnivorous animal from the weasel family photographed on my last trip to Costa Rica. I spotted a tail disappearing through the brush and asked my friend Dave Jr. at Dave & Dave's Costa Rica Nature Park what it could have been. I was thrilled when he told me it was a Tayra and I was determined to wait as long as I had to for the opportunity to see and photograph her. A few hours later she made another quick appearance leaving me just enough time for a couple of photos.

The Crowned Prince
Coronated tree frog in Costa Rica. These frogs are also known as the spiny-headed tree frog.
Prior to this trip to Costa Rica, I hadn't even heard of this species. Coronated tree frogs are an arboreal species. They are rarely seen as they spend their lives in bromeliads and other plants. They are found in in subtropical forests just below mountainous regions. They live in intact forests, but are also common in young, secondary growth forests. They are also sometimes observed to be living in coffee plantations. It took a long difficult drive and night hike to find this species...thanks goes to my friend Jose.
