Yashica Mat-124 G

Another recent addition to my collection. I've always loved TLR's and this one is in beautiful condition!! This is the seventh camera I've picked up from a fellow passionate photographer and he even went to the trouble to order a new battery for it so it doesn't just have to sit on display! I've ordered film which arrives tomorrow and will be trying it out early next week. Can't wait!!!

Yashica Mat-124 G 1970-1986. The last twin lens reflex ever produced by Yashica, and the most advanced. Designed as a Rolleiflex copy, the Mat-124 G features a four-element, 80mm f/3.5 lens set of the better "Yashinon" variety, shutter speeds from 1-second to 1/500th, an aperture range of f/3.5 - f/32, a bright ground-glass viewing screen, a crank arm film advance, and ergonomic aperture/shutter controls. While this camera was manufactured with a built-in light meter, age has rendered them quite inaccurate or non-functional. We recommend using an external meter for optimal results (many smartphone apps are quite wonderful for this by the way). Uses any 120 (aka "medium-format") film.

1A Pocket Kodak

Months ago when I started collecting vintage cameras, someone reached out to me on facebook and offered tips. He keeps an eye out for any cameras he knows I'm interested in when they're listed for sale. One sleepless night I was browsing recent listings and found one which had many that I knew he'd be interested in. So at about 4am, I sent him the link and I messaged the seller directly about this 1A Kodak Pocket Camera. In the morning when I got up, I had a message waiting from the seller saying it was still available. Great!

Then another message from my friend saying thanks for sharing the listing, he was on his way up - driving hours - to pickup some of the cameras. I didn't realize that part of my message to him didn't send. The part where I said I really wanted the grey 1A. Soon after I heard back from the seller saying...I'm sorry, it just sold.
I messaged her back and she laughed when she heard that I'd shared the link with the buyer. She joked that she'd put "reserved for Megan" in the box. I got a message from him when he got to the car with his huge haul and saw the note. I guess the note did its job, because when he got back into town...he decided I needed to have it 😃 Now THAT is a great friend!

So, here it is!!
The No. 1A Pocket Kodak was manufactured from 1929 to 1932. This camera took twelve exposures, 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch size, on no. A 116 film without reloading. This camera was produced in four colors, blue, brown, gray, green. It was fitted with a Meniscus Achromatic lens and Kodex shutter, speeds 1/25 to 1/50 second. Constructed with a strong aluminum body and covered with a durable material. The metal parts were finished in nickel or colored enamel. Features included a black bellows, autographic feature, worm screw focusing device, focusing scale, reversible brilliant finder, and two tripod sockets.
